GIS Coordinator for a Government Authority in Oman
Salary- Negotiable 800-900 OR
Education requirements- Degree in Computer science and Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Experience: 10-12+Years with Relevant experience in similar role ( python programming and statical analysis)
Desired Candidate Profile
1. The GIS Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the GIS function for all vegetation
and wild tree datasets analysis. Working with implemented standards and developing
processes for efficient management of satellite datasets, images from drone and lidar spatial
data. The role will involve providing mapping services, satellite images correction,
undertaking geospatial data analysis and developing programming solutions through
python program and statics analysis.
2. Utilize ArcGIS for geospatial data creation, management, and the provision of controlled
high-quality datasets support all areas of the environment data.
3. Help to design, training and develop efficient programming solutions for the enhancement
of our existing GIS systems.
Skills and Experience
1. We’re looking for candidates with master degree and experience in GIS, satellite image
correction and a passion for the natural environment and wild tree counting. Practical
experience in the development of complex workflows and automated GIS tools in map
designing, correction satellite images and Python scripting language.
2. Expertise in data management. Ideally, you must have an interest in biodiversity and an appreciation of the challenges associated with ecological field
3. We will look for you to hold a recognized degree in GIS or equivalent demonstrable
professional experience and have a specialist knowledge of the ArcGIS platform. This will include a working knowledge of the ArcGIS desktop suite including extensions such as Spatial Analyst, experience of python, and satellite analysis of counting tress and map designing.
