Job Position – Senior Accountant

A UAE-based football club and sports services company. Our operations span a youth academy, residential and scholarship programmes, a first team, and sponsorship activities.
A fast-moving organisation with a growing finance function and are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to strengthen our day-to-day accounting and month-end close.
You will work directly with the Head of Finance, taking ownership of core bookkeeping and reporting processes in Xero.
This is a broad role within a small team. You will handle daily transactions, drive the month-end close, and support VAT, payroll, and management reporting.
You should be comfortable working independently, meeting deadlines without supervision, and improving processes as you go.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day accounting
-Record and reconcile daily transactions in Xero, including sales, receipts, supplier invoices, and payments
-Process supplier invoices through our internal payment request workflow and prepare payment runs
-Maintain accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding academy and programme fees, and reconcile payment gateway settlements to the bank
-Perform weekly bank reconciliations across multiple bank and card accounts
-Maintain the fixed asset register, prepayments, and accrual schedules
-Respond to queries from department heads, suppliers, and customers
Month-end close
-Assist in preparing the month-end close checklist and delivering a closed set of books within agreed timelines
-Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, deferred revenue, and payroll
-Assist in preparing monthly management accounts with departmental reporting and variance commentary
-Support the annual audit and year-end close, with our financial year ending 30 June
Compliance and payroll
-Support monthly payroll processing and WPS submissions
-Post payroll journals with departmental allocations
-Assist with Corporate Tax compliance and other regulatory filings
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
-ACCA, CPA, CA, or CMA qualification or part-qualification preferred
-6–8 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years running or leading month-end close
-UAE experience with VAT, WPS payroll, and Corporate Tax is essential
-Advanced Excel skills and confidence handling large reconciliations and data cleanup
-High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
-Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
-Currently based in the UAE
