About the job

POSITION SUMMARY:

  •  Administer all aspects of an advanced distributed computer system supporting a specified functional area of University operations.
  • Install/re-install, configure and troubleshoot operating systems, Windows and Linux, including installed application servers.
  • Manage systems and applications analysis/design to produce a variety of innovative solutions to complex problems.
  •  Manage installation, maintenance, training, and user support, as required; plan and coordinate projects to meet future needs.
  • Manage the servers/services running the SIS Banner system.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Manage multiple servers, workstations, and X terminals ensuring proper integration of these components with existing University computer systems.
  • Manage specific applications in response to offices/colleges’ needs; install and debug new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms ensuring compliance with current site licenses; design, program, and manage websites and associated pages.
  • Research, evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.
  • Develop and implement various training and instruction programs for system administrators/senior support on installing and managing systems, networking, and applications, as well as mentoring junior team members.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  •  Maintain Cloud infrastructure, including cloud migration, managing networks and virtualization infrastructure, IP phone systems, network design, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform related duties as requested.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical IT infrastructure and data assets.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Professional certificates, or proof of experience in:
  • MS Win servers: system and network infrastructure that consists of Windows Servers, including Active Directory/Azure Active Directory and group policy, as well as applications and various other network components. This includes installation, configuration, updates installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Linux:  system and network infrastructure that consists of a RedHat server deployment environment for Linux servers.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Team management abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
  • Information Technology.
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering; or
  • Similar concentrations.
  • Other professional certificates in managing various types of systems, such as MS systems and Linux,

Experience:

  •    Minimum seven (7) years of experience in the field.
