About the job
The Position
RIT Dubai is currently seeking applications from exceptional candidates for a Part-Time Physics Lab Technician for both fall and spring semesters (September-December 2021 and January-May 2022), to maintain and prepare laboratory experiments for instructors and students. The successful candidate is responsible of the preparation of equipment and safety instructions to ensure the smooth running of lessons, and offering help and advice to students when necessary.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
o Maintain and prepare laboratory experiments for instructors and students.
o Responsible for the preparation of equipment and clarifying safety instructions to ensure smooth running of lessons / experiments.
o Offering help and support to students when necessary.
o Conduct quality checks on the functionality of parts and components.
o Perform minor repairs and reporting breakdowns in a timely manner.
o Keep equipment maintenance logs, as well as maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.
o Update records and write incident reports, if relevant.
o Comply with internal policies and industry regulations.
o Perform other related duties as assigned / needed.
Required Qualifications
o Master degree in Physics or Engineering from an accredited university
o Previous teaching experience.
o Knowledge of or experience with various laboratory equipment and materials.
o Ability to set up and prepare experiments.
o Excellent communication skills (written and verbally in English Language)
o Working knowledge of computers and office software.
o Keen attention to detail and problem-solving techniques.
o Solid Knowledge and familiarity with safety codes.
o Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment.
o Ability to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines.
