Senior Systems & Network Engineer
Role:
Ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links including any new projects and digital transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
- Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
- Design, Deploy & manager network security components like F5 WAF, Load balancers, Pulse Secure VPN, Palo Alto/Fortinet/Cisco Firewalls, Aruba NAC, Aruba Wireless Controllers, Trend Micro Endpoint security & Email Gateway etc.
- Design, deploy & manage cisco unified communication manager, cisco contact center, SDWAN etc.
- Must have a good understanding & experience in implementing and setting up Microsoft Azure Management group, Subscriptions, VNETs, Subnets, route table. Must be able to manage cloud network & security infrastructure requirements. CloudFare experience will be an added advantage.
- Design on connecting company globally to international exchanges & regional exchange houses and coordinate with global & regional connectivity services providers.
- Manage the data center which includes experience in setting up a datacenter from scratch, setting up Panduit racks, co-locating the datacenter to new location, patching, cabling, monitoring the datacentre health & elements like power/cooling/humidity etc.
- Design, implement, and support site-to-site VPNs, and remote-access VPNs. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
- Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Manage & maintain systems like routers, switches, unified communication systems, network links and manage/support brokers in enabling seamless access to the company.
- Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery
Qualifications & Exoerience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following majoring Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Network or Security Engineering
- Bonus Qualification/ Certification: CCIE (Routing & Switching), Voice certification will be value add.
- Minimum 10 year’s experience working in an complexed IT networks environment with hands on experience in Network Engineering
- 10 years’ experience in designing, implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise level IP networks that include support of a heterogeneous distributed desktop computing environment required.
- Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation.
- Network capacity planning, network security principles.
- Expert knowledge of core routing and switching design principles, best practices, and related technologies.
- Experience in implementing and managing voice over IP (VoIP) systems desired.
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including routers, switches (layer 2/3), firewalls, remote access, DNS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, QoS, DSL, Frame Relay, and Metro Ethernet
