Job Position – Senior Accountant
Department: Finance and Accounting
Direct Report to: Chief Accountant
About the Role
We are looking for a senior accountant with hands-on experience in the UAE market to manage day-to-day accounting operations for a professional football club. The role requires ensuring full compliance with local regulations, including UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements, while supporting the financial operations specific to the sports industry.
Key Responsibilities
– Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with UAE regulations
– Handle VAT accounting, VAT returns, and communication with FTA
– Support UAE Corporate Tax calculations and filings
– Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
– Manage accounts payable and receivable
– Perform bank reconciliations
– Assist with audits and provide required documentation
– Ensure compliance with UAE laws and financial regulations
– Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and banks when required
Requirements
– Proven experience as an Accountant working with UAE-based companies
– Strong knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations
– Understanding of UAE accounting standards and compliance requirements
– Experience with accounting software (e.g. Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero, Tally, or similar, preferably QuickBooks)
– Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
– Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
– Good communication skills in English
Nice to Have
– Experience working with Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG)
– Work experience in the sports industry or with professional sports clubs
– Knowledge of payroll processing in the UAE
– Experience with multi-currency transactions
– Professional accounting certification (ACCA, CPA, CA)
