Barista

Our concept combines an open, guest-facing coffee bar with a retail selection of carefully chosen coffee beans and coffee-related products. We aim to create a fun, energetic, and welcoming environment where great products, curious people, and memorable guest experiences come together.

Key Responsibilities:

-Prepare high-quality, consistent espresso, milk-based, black, filter, and cold coffee beverages.
-Understand espresso extraction, grinder calibration, dose, yield, brewing ratios, and milk texturing.
-Develop strong knowledge of coffee origins, varieties, processing methods, roast profiles, and flavour notes.
-Learn to adjust brewing parameters to suit different beans and changing coffee selections.
-Engage confidently with guests at the open bar, explain brewing methods, and recommend beverages based on individual preferences.
-Present and sell retail coffee beans and selected coffee products, explaining their characteristics, usage, and value.
-Participate in coffee tastings, cupping sessions, and training led by the Memories Coffee Roastery team.
-Maintain high standards of beverage quality, presentation, hygiene, and equipment care.
-Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining product quality and a positive attitude.
-Support stock control, waste reduction, daily preparation, and smooth shift handovers.

Requirements:

-Previous professional experience in a coffee house or café is required.
-Specialty coffee experience is strongly preferred. Candidates from venues where coffee was a secondary offering may be considered for junior positions.
-Strong coffee knowledge and a genuine interest in beans, brewing techniques, flavour profiles, and coffee products.
-Confidence in communicating coffee knowledge and recommending products directly to guests.
-A guest-first mentality, with a natural ability to create a welcoming and engaging experience at an open bar.
-Positive, energetic, and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and take responsibility.
-Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset.
