Job Position – IT / Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role:
ALGO Systems Qatar is seeking a proactive and skilled IT/Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in IT and cybersecurity, with hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining security systems. This is a great opportunity to work on national-level infrastructure and smart city projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and maintain network and system security
• Respond to and investigate security alerts and incidents
• Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
• Assist in developing and enforcing IT security policies and procedures
• Configure and manage firewalls, antivirus, SIEM, and endpoint protection systems
• Support in auditing and compliance with local cybersecurity regulations (e.g., NIA, Q-CERT guidelines)
• Maintain documentation related to IT infrastructure and cybersecurity
• Assist in user access control, backups, and disaster recovery planning
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity or IT support
• Solid knowledge of:
– Network security principles and protocols
– Firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto), IDS/IPS
– Endpoint protection & email security (e.g., ESET, Sophos, Barracuda)
– SIEM tools and log analysis
– Vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS)
– Familiarity with cybersecurity standards (ISO 27001, NIST, or similar)
– Experience with Active Directory, Office 365 security settings, VPNs
– Arabic speaking is mandatory
– Immediate availability is highly preferred
– Holding a cybersecurity certificate is a plus (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent)
