Job Position – Senior Database Administrator

About the Role :
Looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team on a long-term contract. The ideal candidate will lead the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise database environments while ensuring high availability, security, performance, and reliability across mission-critical systems. This role requires a hands-on database expert who can provide technical leadership, support complex database environments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and resilient database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
– Lead the design, deployment, administration, and optimization of enterprise database platforms.
– Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database environments.
– Monitor database performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization.
– Implement database security, access controls, encryption, and compliance best practices.
– Design and execute backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
– Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and availability issues.
– Perform database patching, migrations, upgrades, and capacity planning.
– Ensure database integrity, resilience, and business continuity.
– Automate database administration tasks where appropriate.
– Support development teams with database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
– Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and standards.
– Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior database administrators.
– Collaborate with infrastructure, application, DevOps, and security teams throughout project delivery.
Required Technical Skills
Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
– PostgreSQL
– Microsoft SQL Server
– Oracle Database
– MySQL
– MongoDB
– Redis
– Comparable enterprise database technologies
– Cloud database services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
– Automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Shell)
– DevOps and CI/CD integration
